Privacy Policy

Effective July 5, 2026 · Applies to BlinkBreak for macOS and this website

The short version: BlinkBreak has no accounts and collects no personal data. Your settings and break stats live on your Mac and never leave it. The only thing the app ever sends is anonymous usage statistics that cannot be linked to you.

1. What BlinkBreak stores

BlinkBreak keeps a small amount of data locally on your device so the app can function: your settings (reminder interval, break duration, break style, idle timeout, notification and launch-at-login preferences) and simple daily counts of breaks taken and skipped. This data is stored in your Mac's standard application preferences and is never transmitted anywhere.

2. What BlinkBreak observes

To pause the timer when you step away, BlinkBreak uses macOS's system idle-time information — a single number indicating how long since the keyboard or mouse was last used. BlinkBreak does not and cannot read your screen contents, keystrokes, clipboard, files, browsing history, or which applications you use.

3. Anonymous usage analytics

BlinkBreak uses Firebase Analytics (a Google service) to send anonymous usage statistics — for example, that a break was completed or a setting was changed. These events are not linked to your identity: the app has no accounts, collects no names, email addresses, or contact details, and does not use advertising identifiers. This is the app's only network traffic, and it matches the app's App Store privacy label ("Data Not Linked to You — Usage Data"). We use these statistics solely to understand which features matter and to improve the app.

4. What BlinkBreak does not do

BlinkBreak does not collect personal information, has no user accounts, shows no ads, and sells no data — there is nothing to sell. Beyond the anonymous usage statistics described above, nothing leaves your machine. We cannot see who you are or what you do.

5. This website

This website is a static page. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the standard technical request data any web server sees.

6. Notifications

If you enable break reminders, BlinkBreak asks macOS for permission to show local notifications. These are generated entirely on your device. You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings → Notifications.

7. Donations

The optional "Buy us a coffee" link opens a third-party payment page in your browser. Any information you provide there is handled by that provider under its own privacy policy; BlinkBreak receives no personal data from the transaction.

8. Children's privacy

BlinkBreak collects no personal data from anyone, including children under 13.

9. Deleting your data

Uninstalling BlinkBreak removes the app. To remove its stored preferences as well, delete the app's container from ~/Library/Containers. Anonymous analytics events cannot be traced back to you, and we hold no personal data — so there is nothing about you for us to delete on our side.

10. Changes to this policy

If a future version of BlinkBreak ever changes what data is handled, we will update this policy and note the change in the app's release notes before the change takes effect.
